| Any encouragement for an old guy (late 40s) wanting to go and teach in Korea? |

| You will need more patience in finding a job than someone ten years younger than you. I know. I'm ten years older than you. |

| Go for a public school position....you will be treated better, respected more and wont have to put up with dumbass 22-30 year olds who think they are cool. |

I guess I'm an old guy (40... though I don't look it... I got John Karr's youthful looks). There are a couple older guys in my apartment who also teach. Yeah, a lil more patience. But it could go one of two ways:
1) if you've got some qualifications, a school looking for a serious teacher might not pass you over. You'd be in a better work environment, not run by some old guy who can't speak English and conceived a hagwon biz plan at the bottom of a bottle of soju.
2) you might get a school looking for a body. Oi.
Being older might mean you're more apt to fall into the extremes. Good or bad. |
