my wife is always cold and turns it off just when i start to get comfortable. I wait 3 minutes and turn it on again. She waits 10 minutes and turns it off and then hides the bloody remote control. I find it and then sit on the damn thing until I'm comfortable. |
I HAVE to marry a Korean man, just so I'll find someone who stays as cold as I do. I'd get tired of going back and forth over air con or heat. |

even if you get an ac it will take ages for the people to come and install it as they will be back logged with requests...
...I never understood why aircons need that big fan out side, when car A/C's dont have one...
Additional ...if my thermos can be hot on the inside and cold on the out, then why cant they make a house that is cold on the inside and hot on the out? |

Never walked past a stationary car in Summer?
That blast of hot air you feel from somewhere around the engine is the cars air-con external fan blowing. |

Well, you see, there's this funky little invention called insulation. I've heard it works wonders for helping to keep a house cool in the summer & warm in the winter. |

Funny thing about that funky invention, though. Improperly applied as it so often is, insulation can keep a home hot in the summer & cold in the winter. |

I don't understand what point you're making. You didn't expect many teachers to have air-conditioners? |
Aircon is Konglish and it drives me ABSOLUTELY crazy to hear so many teachers using it regularly. If teachers are using konglish and half-assed English outside of class, chances are they're also using it in the classroom. I've heard many foreigners do this with students outside of class. They'll speak in half-assed sentences with the wrong verb tense, konglish or chopped-up sentences, so the student understands them more easily. Arrggh!!!
AC - very easy. |

What is the big difference between using "aircon" and using "AC"???? I've never said "AC" in my life...always "air conditioning/er", but yes, I use air con, because it's easy! |

Something is strangeee. Last night I wore a t-shirt while I slept. The fan off and the windows were closed.
I am in my un air conned appartment, yet there is no sweat dripping off my body ??? Is this bloody summer at an end?
I hope so.
But now I have a cold.
p.s. "air conned" (as opposed to "air conditioned") was included to annoy some people....RELAX. You'll live longer. |

According to the lunar calendar, last week saw the entry of Autumn.
We have a storm coming... and it's already cooler outside. |

Yeah, last night was pleasantly mild, and the weather this morning is terrific. I'm going to write a poem about birds and flowers.

Not much. The same # of syllables in English. In Korean, I'm guessing they're both at about 3 syllables. The BIG difference, which I mentioned in my earlier post, is that one is Konglish. For the teachers out there, I'm guessing you can't just turn it on and off depending on whether you're in class or not, especially if it's ingrained already as Konglish is in most Koreans. Why not just refuse to use Konglish? I'm sure there are quite a few Koreans out there that will be impressed by your ability/knowledge of konglish (not sure why I was capitalizing it earlier - stop!). I certainly hope that's not the reason for using it, especially when (as you mentioned) it's just as easy to use a/c. |
