Other high-end types of babysitters include well-educated women who can replace parents in educating children at home. They usually charge 40,000 to 60,000 won per hour, although each agency has its own remuneration policy. But few parents hire babysitters only for an hour at a time; most customers need the babysitting service for at least two to three hours, and the fee goes up for each extra hour and child.

To make the comparision accurate you should also add the following:
Do babysitters get a free apartment?
Do babysitters get a free round-trip air ticket?
Do babysitters work only 20-30 hours a week?
Do babysitters have tons of available jobs out there?
Remember these babysitters are also educating the children as well so there's not much difference between these and a lot of hakwons. |

Not that I totally disagree with what you are trying to say, but for that kind of money I will work 40 hours or more The difference in wage easily makes up for the ticket and apartment.

The last one is the biggie. Hagwon teachers don't have the massive responsibility over the children, have to feed them and watch them for the entire time. Also, as you said they have to usually educate them somewhat so I can understand how high quality babysitters should easily be paid more than some hagwon teacher. |
