You gotta hear her song "pi" it's phenominal...
Sweet and gentle sensitive man
With an obsessive nature and deep fascination
For numbers
And a complete infatuation with the calculation
Of PI
Oh he love, he love, he love
He does love his numbers
And they run, they run, they run him
In a great big circle
In a circle of infinity

Kirsty Maccoll
''Theres A Guy Works Down The Chip Shop Swears Hes Elvis"
(kirsty maccoll/philip rambow)
Oh darling why dyou talk so fast
Another evening just flew past tonight
And now the daybreaks coming in
And I cant win and it aint right
You tell me all youve done and seen
And all the places you have been without me
Well I dont really want to know
But Ill stay quiet and then Ill go
And you wont have no cause to think about me
Theres a guy works down the chip shop swears hes elvis
Just like you swore to me that youd be true
Theres a guy works down the chip shop swears hes elvis
But hes a liar and Im not sure about you
Oh darling youre so popular
You were the best thing new in hicksville
With your mohair suits and foreign shoes
Lou says you changed your pickup for a seville
And now Im lying here alone
cause youre out there on the phone to some star in new york
I can hear you laughing now
And I cant help feeling that somehow
You dont mean anything you say at all |

Postcard from Elvis - Tex, Don & Charlie
| Quote: |
Got a postcard from Elvis
It was postmarked Guam
Said he was working at a little cafe, where he met Yvonne
Said the lights from the kitchen didn't bother him much
Said he wasn't wasn't worrying about about watering or shaving and such
Said he found a red Monaro
Said it runs pretty good
And most Saturdays he's dreaming away
Under the hood
He said "Maybe it's a little bit stupid
And sometimes I forget
But the closer I come to the heart of the matter
The farther away I get" |

Does she actually sing out the numbers of pi?
It's a bit like Zevon's Run Straight Down, a song about environmental destruction that begins with background singers intoning the following:
(4-Aminobiphenyl, hexachlorobenzene
Dimethyl sulfate, chloromethyl methylether
2, 3, 7, 8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-
para-dioxin, carbon disulfide)
(Dibromochloropane, chlorinated
benzenes, 2-Nitropropane, pentachlorophenol,
Benzotrichloride, strontium chromate
1, 2-Dibromo-3-chloropropane)
and continuing with it in the background through the whole song. It's a list of environmentail pollutants he got from a Sierra Club flyer somewhere.
You could use it as a chant for meditation. Maybe not. |

Yeah, you have tyo hear it to believe how much emotion and passion she put into singing numbers... it's kind of freaky.

"Walkin in Memphis" by Mark Cohn farking sucks major a$$!
I hate that song- always have.
I remember when he got shot in the head. I thought- oh great! now he's gonna die and be famous again and we'll have to hear that crap song. Or, he'll live, come back and be famous again and we'll have to hear that crap song.
Luckily, neither happened.
S*cks! |

Glad to hear he got shot in the head. No more crap songs like that. It ranks right up there with that cheesy song "Butterfly kisses" |
