Hey, I'm new here.

I just arrived in Seoul and my school is setting me up with an apartment. Where in Seoul would people choose to live and why? My school is in Chungdahm, south of the river, but I think that might be too expensive. So what area is reasonably close and has good/cheap bars etc.?

Thanks for your opinions.

I am moving from the Hong-Ik area. It is really poppin here. There are many clubs and activities in the area. Send me a pm if you want to hang out before I leave.

I've lived in Chungdam, it's not too bad. It is a bit more expensive compared to other areas.

I also lived in Sang-su which was nice as well. That would be too long of a commute for you though.

I live in the Sinchon area (northwest side) and it rocks. Tons of restaurants, bars, and most decent areas to hang out and explore are just a quick cab ride away.

you might try oksu dong just north of the river -- it's close to itaewon and kangnam area (chungdam) and a bit cheaper
