Just make sure the phone card is for international calls. They have great ones at the Family Mart's that actually sell them. There is a place on the back to scratch off the code you will need to use when you make calls home. I paid 10,000 won for my card and it gave me over a hour to the States.

Good luck and I am sure everyone will be glad to hear from you!

hatter, that's not such a great deal. I get more like 500 minutes for 20,000. Shop around and compare prices.

One of the best deals I have found (and easiest to get) is to go to maxcall.co.kr . There are many cards to choose from there. The best deal for ringing the U.S. is 44 won per minute, which means that, if you buy a 30,000 won card, you will have about 681 minutes of talking time. If you can, have a Korean friend or co-teacher get the details from the website and pay for the card through a bank transfer.

Piece of wee-wee.

You guys should check out Skype online...

http://www.skype.com/helloagain.html

Hey I am a lo-tech gal and am wrapped!! Skype to Skype (if your buddies have a microphone also) is free and the quality is top notch. My headset cost me only 8K won to buy.

On Skype Out you can dial any landline, you pay only 13000 won and receive 9 hours of talk time to most countries... so you can call your family on their home phone. Easy peasy and soooo cheap Very Happy
