Why on Ghods green earth would you use a recruiter who is NOT in Korea, who has never seen your school, has never met the director and has NO idea what the conditions really are?

I agree completely. Why use a recruiter who is not in Korea?
Obviously, you want to avoid some Korean recruiters but there are enough foreigners that are based in Korea and do recruiting.
Also, chances are you will have more schools to choose from if a recruiter is in Korea. Most of the schools will use a recruiter based in Korea as they have to guarantee a teacher for so many months? So I've heard.
Another benefit is that if you need any help when you get here, it's easier to get the problem resolved when you can make a phone call or meet someone in person. I remember when I had to go to the hospital and they didn't understand what I was saying. It was Sunday night and my school didn't answer and I was sick sick sick! I called my recruiter on her cell phone and she explained things to the nurse.
