Just joking....

But I do think that background checks should be done on many people. I think I have worked with a couple of men who shouldn't be around children.

They get that dreamy look on their faces when the ten year old girl is sitting on their lap....creeps me out thinking about those guys still in Korea.

Perhaps that 'dreamy look' has more to do with dreaming that their contract were over and they are away from a room full of little tyrants.

Your accusations are pretty subjective, you are calling these guys pedophiles based on what?

a dreamy look?

I am not saying criminal checks are bad.....they are indeed a good thing,

but let's not get carried away here.

So long as the school's paying for it they can check away but I have a feeling it this became a law any number of school's are going to try to put the burden on the teacher.

Shocked

What teacher lets a 10-year-old sit on his (or her) lap?

Does (do) two 5-year-olds make up for one ten year old?

How about the photo-ops where I have about 10 of them in my lap?

Does this mean I can't play SANTA any more?
You guys are NO fun.

p.s. It's not the 10 year olds in my lap that make me glossy-eyed... it's the 22 year olds sitting on Santa's knee that are more fun.

Yes, I realize some teachers do behave that way and that's why the checks are necessary ... obviously. Confused

I was just surprised to see that the OP had worked with more than one of these characters and nothing was done about them even after such blatant misconduct. Hopefully this will be a wake-up call and the industry can weed out the undesirables.

Ok, lets start thinking of police checks.

BUT----

If they do start conducting police checks, lets do ALL teachers to include pre-existing teachers and those with F-visas.

Whats good for the goose is good for the gander....

I support checks at the school or governments expense.

I'm thinking the police checks they don't do would improve the quality of teaching in Korea vastly more than all this "sealed transcript, sealed in exactly the right way and not more than three months old" crap...

Is this due to the Thailand-teaching-Jon-Bennet-Ramsey guy?

Just wondering if that's causing any buzz over there. It's all you see on the news here. pathetic.
