I'd never go back to Canada if I could relocate my parents (and grandparents) comfortably. I fell in love with the UK this year, and will be applying for citizenship shortly.

Princess~ that's the only reason I visit the U.S. every 2 years. But I think that is getting pretty old by now too

VanIslander~ That's exactly where my next stop would be before heading back to Korea....China~!

Nothing.

I like my country.

...And money is pretty much meaningless to me (why else would I get a degree in history teaching??)...

...And I could never marry (or even date) someone who truly hated my country. It'd be like marrying someone who hated my family or hated animals... or is a Republican. Wink I'd never be happy with 'em...

...And I don't drink beer...

So, there you go.

$1,000,000 cool ones and I could live in a tropical paradise like Thailand as a king forever. I could deal with that.

I'm on the same track as Lizara and Superhero. I left ten years ago and have no plans to go back permanently.

I have been back frequently over the past few years as my parents' health has declined, but with my father's passing imminent, I doubt I will be back much in the future after this year. My brothers and sister are not close with me, so family would not be a big motivator. Once a year to one of the big conferences in my field to see friends - that would do it.

I will keep my passport forever, though. My living outside the US isn't any kind of anti-Americanism. It's just how I am and how I have to llive my life.

Money's not a factor, since I made this decision long ago.
