Any help for older guys trying to teach in Korea? Are there schools or cities that are less likely to care than others? Anyone working at a school that could use an older guy?

Define "older".

If you have the qualifications (CELTA, or better, an MA) most unis will hire you no matter your age. I asked at my last uni, where I was doing the hiring, if there was an age limit. I was told, "If they can walk, they can work here." Hogwons are a mite choosier on the age thing.

So contact a buttload of schools, something will turn up.

Don't lose hope. There are some guys as old as 30 teaching here. I even heard of some guy finding a job who was 35, so hang in there, old timer.

If you have a teaching certification, I would try for a public school job. I know of quite a few older guys e.g. 40+ who are teaching in public schools.

This made me laugh..... I guess it must be an inside joke...

Doesn't teaching require experience, age and wisdom, composure?????

DD

PS> I've heard of a guy 40 getting a job and he can dance all night and still cross his "i's and "t"s...............and give the ladies in class pleasure.

PPS. Please excuse me, I'm still laughing.....................................

I was 54 when I left Korea in December. Landed the job when I was 52. No problem. University setting - did three academic years.
