I am curently teaching in China and married to a Chinese person. We were thinking of going to Korea to teach for a while and I was wondering about the visa process for her. Would she be able to get a visa to stay with me while I am teaching in Korea? Thanks.

She should be able to get a dependent spouse visa. I'm not sure what the visa code is, but it should be no problem. The only thing is that she might need to wait a month or so before joining you. I'm not sure how that all works.

There are 2 ways you can do it.

A) You will have to arrive here first. If you have an E2 the steps are simple and do NOT take a lot of time (typically 2 weeks if you have all the paperwork in order).

1.) Get your ARC. You can do this anytime after you arrive. Take your passport, 2 passport type photos and a copy of your employers business registration. Cost is 10,000 won and currently takes 7 days.

2.) AFTER you have your ARC you can apply for HER visa (F3) confirmation number. Take a letter to confirm your employment, a COPY (not original) of your wedding certificate (English or Korean translation is required), your passport and your ARC. Processing time is currently 4 days.

3.) e-mail her the visa issuance number.

4.) She goes to the Korean Embassy with 2 passport photos, 60,000 won (or equivalent in local currency), and her number to apply for her F3 visa. Depending on the consulate work load, takes 2-5 working days.

5.) She gets on a plane to come here.
6.) She comes through customs and immigration at the Incheon airport.
7.) You meet her at the airport.
8.) Within 90 days of her arrival you MUST register her and get her ARC.
9.) Enjoy your time here.

B) You can attempt to get her F3 at the same time you process your E2 in China. Sometimes they will allow it and sometimes they won't.

You will need the documents for your E2 (passport, number, photos) AND you will have to show proof of marriage. They may also include a bunch of other requirements (consul dependant) so you should check with the local consulate / embassy to find out the requirements.

You will ALSO need to get her the
EXIT PERMISSION from the Chinese government. I do NOT know specifically how that process works.
