How do I get to the Namdaemun camera stores? I know I go to the Hoehyeon stop on line 4. I have gone to the market part before but I have not found the strip of camera shops. I also heard there were some stadiums filled with little booths selling stuff. I am on the look for some new lenses and want to check it out. Thanks in advance.

Try this. Get yourself to Shinseyge Dept. Store. I mean right there in front of the building, not across the street from it. Then start walking in the direction of Namdaemoon (the Gate itself). Unless they've all closed down, there should be some shops on your left (the street on your right) as you walk westward.

The camera stores are right next to this Bradey Bunch architecture Church. Imagine university buildings designed in the late 60s. That kind of building. Hard to miss.

I think I get it. I will go and piece these tidbits together. Thanks.

Okay, unless you're familiar with the area.... and even if you are, don't start off from Seoul Station. Take the Blue (No.4) Line to Hoehyeon Station, which is near Myeong-dong. Get out and ask directions to Shinsegye Department Store. From there (as you can see on the map above, it's one of the yellow blobs), standing beside the FRONT DOORS of Shinsegye, you march due-West.... I think. It's only 4~5 minutes' walk. Anyway, march in the direction of South Gate and Seoul Station (neither of which you can see from the FRONT DOORS of Shinsegye, btw). The map above will show you where the camera shops are, and any map of Seoul you have will orient you re: N/S/E/W.

Thanks for the detailed directions Jongo. My next question is, what kind of deals can you get at these namdaemun shops? How much lower can you get cameras and gear than at Yongsan?
