Hello-
I'm going to Fukuoka next week for a visa run...
first time and i'm not sure what I need. All I've received
is a visa number from my employer...is this all I take?
also, does it take 2 days now?
thanks-0

(edited for clarification)

For the visa you need:

-visa confirmation number
-passport
-1-2 passport size photos
-6000 yen
-2 business days to process it. Drop off on the 1st day and pick up on the afternoon of the 2nd day.

For the visa run you will also need an additional 15,000 yen (~$150) for other expenses. Others will tell you that you can do it for less. Yes, you probably can but it is better to have too much money in your pocket than not enough.

Buy your YEN here. You cannot use or exchange Korean won in Japan.

Additionally, Japanese yen is a global currency and can be converted anywhere so if you find that you have bought too much YEN and have to bring some home with you, you can use it on your next trip aborad. Korean Won is NOT a global currency and is hard to convert anywhere.

There is lots of good information in the sticky.

I only needed one photo. Not that it makes much difference, I'm sure.

Also, just to be clear, that "two days" means one day you drop it off, the next afternoon you pick it up...

I made a visa run to Osaka a couple of weeks ago. All the information in ttompatz's post, including currency exchange and spending money, is accurate.
