Paramount parts ways with Cruise

Quote:
Paramount Pictures' decision to end its 14-year relationship with Tom Cruise's production company may have been a shock to the Hollywood status quo, but the way in which it was revealed - publicly and unkindly - was another sign that movie studios are playing rougher with stars they once coddled, one senior movie studio executive said.

Citing Cruise's yearlong metamorphosis from box-office phenomenon to pop-culture punch line, Viacom's chairman, Sumner Redstone, on Tuesday announced the end of the contract, alluding to the actor's recent conduct.

You can't talk that way about Tom Cruise! The man is an international megastar! He's shared scenes with the brilliant Shelley Long, pretended to drive race cars, ruined a Kubrick film, and manhandled Oprah Winfrey. Who are you to question him?

Yes, Tom has indeed been dropped by the foolish drones at Paramount, but that will scarcely mar such an illustrious career. Word on the street is that Mr. Cruise has already found a new home, one from which he can demonstrate his extraordinary talent:

I didn't like some rule changes so I left a simulation hockey league this spring.

The last thing a particular g.m. (living in L.A.) of another team said to me - the only real negativity - was "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

The next thing I hear, a month later, he's dead.

Not sure how I should feel about the situation.

"Being "normal" means being more like others and less like yourself. (paraphrasing Roger Ebert) "

i do my best to be just like i am, but everybody wants me to be just like them - bob dylan

thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's ass - the bible

in the time of chimpanzees i was a monkey - beck

you cannot fool all the people all the time - abraham lincoln

and you go with that worthless old man

First of all, the only quote that's remotely similar to the one in my signature is Bob Dylan's. I don't listen to him because I just can't take his voice. Friends of mine have told me, "But he's a poet! And a brilliant songwriter!" To that I respond with, "Well, then he should write poetry. And/or get someone else to sing his songs."

And why is Roger Ebert a "worthless old man"? Regarding the "old" part, I'd like to point out that you've quoted Bob Dyland, Abraham Lincoln, and a 2,000-year-old book. Regarding the "worthless" part, why do you say that? Jealous of his success? I sometimes disagree with his opinion, but I almost always feel like he has something interesting to say. I think that he speaks quite plainly for someone whom I think is rather well-read. That's the opposite of many movie critics who often try to sound "hipper than thou" or grandiloquent. He basically slammed "Lord of the Rings" which are among my all-time favorite movies. I totally disagreed with his reviews, but I still found them interesting. I especially liked it when he described the feedback he had received from FrodoRulz.com and INeverKissedAGirl.org. And he answers his e-mail. I once wrote to him regarding a review that he wrote on the movie "Old Boy" and he e-mailed me back. It was very short, but he did it.

And since he's still recuperating from surgery, you might consider showing a little human dignity.

first of all, all those quotes and a billion others point to the same rock. why you couldn't find a good one instead of -paraphrasing- roger ebert, i don't have any idea.
and i don't care that he's old. i don't care that he's sick. he's not reading this, and i'm sure my opinion doesn't matter to him anyway, and i don't care whether you like him or not. that show is unwatchable now he's teamed with that dork roper.
anyway, i don't care. how the hell am i gonna sit here and argue the merits of some guy i could give two shits about?

and if you really think dylan can't sing, you're just another idiot.
