Just saw the film on DVD and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Two great thumbs up, higher for its incredible cinematography, made easier by its African setting but still credit goes to great camera work.

The Constant Gardener feels very much like a cross between the yearning romantic love in The English Patient and the political themes of connectiveness in Syriana, an interesting duality given Ralph Fiennes also stars in the former, and Rachel Weisz wins a best supporting Oscar here like Clooney did in the latter.

If you haven't seen it, don't let the "Thriller" tag and gun-wielding Fiennes mislead you, this film is much different than it's promoted to be, much more a drama about love and believing in someone and trying to cope with a situation, trying to find some right in a sea of wrong.

I'll be seeing this film again before the year's out, that's for sure.

Seen it yet? Do.

It was better than both English Patient and Syriana.

Not quite, but decent nonetheless...shame to see Pete Poselthwaite in sucha small role...waste of acting talent.
At this point it's quite an old movie. I know this thread has been done before.

yes, but don't you think the film needed a sort of unstable, hyper-idealistic politico fruitcake for that particular role? genius no, essential yes.

I'm really suprised that you loved the movie. I was read the book first, and it was great. So, I was really looking forward to the movie, but it wasn't nearly as detailed or suspenseful as the book. Plus, many of the scenes in the movie weren't even from the book. I kept thinking that it would be really hard to follow if you didn't already know the story. However, I'll agree that the backdrop of Africa and the cinematography were really nice.

In any case, I'm glad some people really enjoyed it, because it's a wonderful, powerful story.
