Shocking!

Booze + Bar in Itaewon = fight and injury.

That has to be a first....

Ghost, you make whatever decision you feel is right but in my case in this situation, I think I'd have opted for the charges (and consequent nose surgery fee). I find in this sort of situation, the greatest amount of inconvenience and discomfort is the most suitable punishment. You're probably better than me though for walking away. But I don't think you would have been any worse off for staying and dragging this whole thing out to its long, bitter, charge-induced end. And with a win, they would have to cover your hospital fee, wouldn't they? That's how it worked with those Cape Bretoners and that Korean glass jaw that got them riled up.

"Please leave" seems to sum up the feeling of 99% of Korean males towards foreigners of any description.

Maybe we should apply that sentiment ot the korean community in LA and London?

wtf? Why don't you actually try making some Korean friends? I can't believe people seriously make comments like this. I'm gonna say it's a jewish conspiracy....

"You are wrong." Wink Laughing

Look, yes theres a few korean guys out there that make good friends.
In my experience though the vast majority have values or interests, etc which don't interest me.

They're also the worlds biggest ****blockers. They will even pretend to help you etc while 99% of them will subtly do anything they can think of to prevent you taking one of "their" women.

Admit defeat? Thats what every testosterone dripping Korean male wants.. that you run along back to miguk.

Best revenge is to make sure you walk in there next time with a Korean stunna on your arm.

I think I may have seen the tail end of it. Did it continue onto the street beside burger king at about 9pm? The cop car pulled up around then.

And jeonjumichael: The twisted anti-foreigner sentiment over here needs no encouragement from you. Maybe you'll swallow your words when you get targetted next time?

What a "Junioresque" reaction I must say. I am boiling with rage already! Laughing

Ummmm yeah best result would be sitting through the charges and all, although it's quite difficult to face the onset of the hangover still awake.

Of all the bar & street fights I've personally seen in Korea, the majority took place in Itaewon. The vast majority. But that's only because I spent more wild weekend nights in that particular "entertainment district" than in any other. Yet of the handful of times I personally got involved in scraps with drunks, none of those were in Itaewon. They were in places where mine was the only white face for miles & miles.

Remarkably board-active for a man in Jeju.

This is one of the funniest posts I have ever read.

Unless you're desperate for a Nashville cheeseburger or a 'custom-made suit', just stay the hell away from Itaewon. There's potential trouble afoot.

I want to keep this quote on hand for the next time someone asks for an example of xenophobic bigotry:

Quote:
I personally hope that you have a messed up face for the rest of your life as a very visual reminder of your American arrogance here in Korea. I am on the side of the bouncer in this one. Reading your story it is obvious that you are lying. Hopefully you will leave as soon as possible, as you said, and rid this country of your unwanted presence.

Go back to America where you belong with all the other redneck drunken idiots.

Man if I had a buck for everytime I had my nose broken or gotten into a scrap when I was in my 20s I'd be maybe 4 or 5 dollars richer. A few months ago a drunk tried to pick a fight with me I showed him my driver's license and said "do you really want to fight someone your father's age?" He went away feeling stupid.

Seriously though, fights in bars happen for a # of reasons and usually it's no big deal in a couple of weeks. You've got something to brag about the rest of your life-"Yeah I remember when I took on 2 bouncers in Korea and almost killed 1 of them after he broke my nose etc etc". It's a right of passage. It could have happened anywere in the world. Just be thankful no weapons were involved. Finally, women love guys who have had a broken nose because it gives you character.

Spot on poker player! Thanks for the laugh. I can only think of myself, but if I woke up with a shattered nose and ego, I would only go 'awww *beep*, what a stupid night that was. Oh well, another war story for the chest.'

Seriously, is this post a joke?

Your story REEKS of bull****. Another typical reason why Korean media continues to write such negative things about foreigners in this country, especially young drunken Americans. To be honest a minor scrap is no big deal. I've had my nose broke 2wice and never complained on either occasion. A barfight is not really something you go and cry to the cops about ,in the hope of making money out of it.

i'd much prefer Korea if one was able to brawl a bit more without the whole spectre of court cases and paying compensation.

Why don't the police get busy investigating the real criminals- corrupt business practises and shady deals,- instead of coming down hard on people who fight a little bit while drunk. Its no biggie.
