|
|
I have a "dual-membership" to the Apgujung California Fitness available (good through July 2007), which means this is your normal membership plus access to the Bikrim Yoga classes as well as any other classes they offer.
Through them, it would cost a little over 1.4 million won for a full year - obviously this would only be for 11-ish months, so feel free to send your best offer.
The transfer process from what I was told is quite easy.
If interested, send me a PM or email me at this user id @ hotmail dot com
Thanks!

My partner has one. He's Korean. Says people sell them all the time. not sure if there are some you can sell and some you can't, but you do have to pay an extra fee to transfer it. How long are you going to be out of the country? Maybe I'll borrow (rent?) yours so I can go to the gym with him this winter. I don't want to buy it permanently, but if you can figure out how to do this, I'd be interested.
By the way, his membership can be used in the U.S., Bangkok and somewhere else (can't remember) as well. Ask the office for a list of locations. Maybe you could sell it in the U.S. |

This membership is still available.
I've had several people ask me questions regarding it, so to clarify:
1) Yes, you can upgrade this to a lifetime membership. This is something that you would negotiate with California Fitness - and as anyone thats had any experience dealing with them knows, EVERYTHING is negotiable.
2) Yes, this provides unlimited access to the Bikrim Yoga classes, which would normally be an arm and a leg on top of a normal membership.
3) As far as I know this is only for the Apgujung branch, but see above 1).
4) No, the transfer fee will not be an issue.
5) Yes you can extend it on a year to year basis at a significant discount through them (see above 1)

Over the last six months or so, on varous sites, I've seen at least ten posts for people selling these memberships. It seems very dodgy to me. I'm sure they are real memberships, but I doubt the seller paid for them |

Okayyy.....
Thanks for doing your background research alinkorea, but this is a membership I paid for from CF last year, won't be able to use for a good portion of my remaining time here, and would therefore like to transfer rather than let set around not being used.
On a seperate note, if someone didn't pay for a <insert legit item>, but still wanted to sell it, why should you care. |

Possibly you did buy it. There has been an unusual number of people who've bought these memberships, apparantly for a lot of money, only to subsequently sell them. It seems very suspicious. I've seen loads of people selling these memberships. |

No offense, but if you're not interested please take your noise elsewhere. I'm just trying to sell my membership here (yes it was expensive for me, now I'm willing to come away with what I can). Just because something seems suspicious to you doesn't mean squat.
So you've seen loads of people selling membership - yeah there's a lot of turnover in Seoul - what else is new? I've seen loads of people selling PCs that they apparently bought for a lot of money only to subsequently sell them too.
Really I'm not sure what your point is - your certainly not helping my cause and since you're not really educating anyone else out there by unsubstantiated claims or a suspicious "feeling" you get when you read something, no one else is coming away from this any better off. |

i think we should raise the terror level, just to be sure. and perhaps a pre-emptive strike against people who may or may not use, have, sell any kind of membership to anything that may or may not be legitimate. just to be sure.
dude! you don't want the membership, let it go!
honestly to me, sounds like a reasonable deal. |

California operates like a car dealership... new memberships are very negotiable.... except the invoice cost is close to nil |

alinkorea,
This is not a fake-yet-high-quality Callaway golf club set made in China (and yes I know, Callaway actually does produce a lot of its products there now).
It's a membership to an elite fitness club, with no possibility for any kind of fraud as the transfer would be conducted by the club itself. The issue of whether he is making money from something he obtained for free (which he says he didn't) or not isn't an issue at all. The product has an inherent value. Period. None of your or my business unless interested (in which case I'd think a range of 900-1 mil. would be realistic).
(countdown till this tool post something like "But it's used"....)
To the OP - I suggest contacting some of the MNCs here with a high expat presence. I know a lot of them are having a big problem getting Club Olympus/Seoul Club memberships for their new arrivals as the waiting lists are quite long. The above are of course much more developed in regard to facilities and services, but this may be a good temp solution for someone. |

why does everyone have their balls in a snit? Obviously to transfer the membership you have to walk into the cali fitness place to have the papers transferred over in front of a cali fitness rep so what is the big deal? What's there to worry about? I have a membership with the ability to transfer it and it's gotta be done with a sales rep, big deal no worries. OMG... |
