Being a Brit I have noticed a lot of dislike from particularly Canadians who think there great great grandparents were raped by my English great great grandparents before being thrown on a boat and shipped to North America during the potato famine. Of course it didn't happen like that, but lets not get the truth in the way of a good story.

It seems Brits are always the bad guys in Hollywood movies.

I put it down to our superiority and others inferiority!!! Laughing

Is the whole point of this thread to start a flame war?

Brits don't start wars these days, they join in. Laughing

The Brits and the Germans (anglo saxons) and their love of the word "superiority", even in jest, is there often in conversations.

That Jon Benet Ramsey wannabe killer wrote on his ESL job apllications that his objective was to help raise youngsters to be "a superior personality." That word choice, "superior" is read by his fellow Americans as a sign that he ain't right in the head. Laughing

I really have no interest in seeing this turn into a flame war, so after it reaches page 2 I'm out of here. Canadians who hate England? That's pretty rare.

Scottish people hate England and Mel Gibson hates England too.
ie: Braveheart. Very Happy

BTW, This question was proorly thought out. Usually when you ask which country do you dislike, you think of that country's government - not the normal people.

Now a lot of people are going to choose America in this poll, but I think it's because of Bush & co. Most people like ordinary Americans.

Worldwide, it seems to me the US is the most despised and yet also the most adulated or envied.

In Asia, Japan might fill that role.

Not a lot of love for North Korea in the world. Myanmar ain't too popular either for its actions.

Do Canadian really harbor ill will to brits? As a Canadian, I don't encounter and I've never, ever encountered anyone (aside from French Canadians) that feels we got shafted by the Brits.

Now, you may have encountered a line of Canadian arrogance that goes "We're Canadian, we come from the greatest country in the world, and why don't you know more about us and why do you not accept your nation is, at best, the second best nation in the world? I've got this UN survey in my back pocket that proves we're the best country in the world. I really do. And you hate your immigrants. We love them! Bow down before me. At least don't expect me to pay for this round. Things are expensive here. Not like Winnipeg. Toronto people have gotten here first, I suspect. They're not real Canadians. Be careful of them. I'm Canadian. Not American. We're like Americans but we're loved by everyone. I'd never own a gun. Even if an immigrant moved next door and started building a minaret and used it to call all the other immigrants in the neighborhood to come live in his house. People love Canadian so much I could go up to that Korean, show him the flag on my backpack, and he'll offer me his spare room and his daughter. See my flag on my backpack? It makes me invincible in the middle east and Europe. Did I mention Mike Myers is Canadian? Yeah, Shrek is Canadian. What do you think about that? You have nothing to compare so don't even bother. Check out how I spell colour. With a U. Americans don't. They're brutish and lazy and probably uncircumcised. We spell colour with a U. God loves us more. My uncle has a sailboat."
