I have thought of telling the recruiter who is helping me find a job that my director is looking for a replacement. If the recruiter contacts and places a new teacher, is there any way AT ALL that my director can claim that I should pay any of the recruiter fee?
If this were Canada or the US, I would never dream of asking this question. But, laws or sometimes funky here, and my director is capable of some of the most creative accounting you can imagine...
I'm not really interested in helping her, but in a moment of thoughtlessness, I said I would Embarassed Sad . Now I have to honor my word as long as it can't harm me....
Thank you anyone for feedback.

Laughing I think thats the route I'll take. I did give my word that I would at least make an effort, but I think just this once...

I have figured out that if I had simply refused to do any OT whatsoever, 95% of my issues there would have been avoided. Then of course there's the pension, but that's a phone call away...

I dont think there is any way you can be forced to pay any recruiting fee. If the school doesnt want to pay, then they can refuse to hire the teacher that the recruiter reccomends.

As for you, if its a good school then try and find a good teacher. If its a crap school, then be honest with teachers that apply. If you cant find a replacement, you still tried which is what you said you would do.

Give them a few names from the posted resumes on this site.

Here's one: TESOL Certified Canadian Anxious to start Immediately!

It's not up to you to find a replacement, and legally there is no way they should be trying to charge you for it.......but this is Korea.

For sure, thats true. And no, no one is trying to force me to pay for anything. I was just trying to think ahead to possible pitfalls. EEEWWWW, does that make me a troll!!!???? YUUUUUUCCCCKKKK!

The school was actually good. Students are super. Classes are small. Hours reasonable, 2 or so until 8;30. No weekends. (well, i worked one two hour saturday camp class in 18 months but I agreed to it. Housing, SUPER. Its a box on top of a building, but 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, 2 balconies, full size fridge, aircon, and stove/oven. She charged me 100k a month for phone, cable, electricity, water and heating oil. Gas bottles were my own cost. Truly, the only problem has been my boss nickle and diming my paycheck month in and month out with these damned OT games.
Oops, sorry, sounds like I'm trying to sell the place. I'm NOT.
