Oh you forget that Saddam was worse,. If you remember Kurds flee to Turkey- not the otherway around.

Please argue more carefully than your standard one liner and tepid response of "X" was worse. Yes, the atrocities you always list are horrible but they in NO WAY inform the debate of the present other than to say, yes, that regime was/is horrible....................(i'm thinking inparticular of, Hama).

All the regimes are cruel and I do believe it is much more honest to say that than debate numbers etc.......Turkey over time, has definitely done the most to suppress Kurdish culture (the real true test of genocide and not just deaths) and has often in the past accused both Iraq and Syria of arming and training Kurds (their Kurds). Which they did. The situation is complex due to the lack of international pressure especially, in support of a Kurdistan. The U.S. is rightfully to be condemned for their two faced policy and this again, is one more nail in the coffin which represents the death of U.S. respect worldwide.

Your saying that the U.S. should arm the Kurds of Iraq to the teeth is just farcical and like giving warlords of Afghanistan new methods of destruction (which the U.S. has....so I don't doubt they might do this with the Kurds of Iraq). It is in no way a solution and just exasperates an already sick and sad situation.

So please be a little more "subtle" in your understanding of the historical dimensions and the complexity of this area of the world. Quit with the Bathists are badder so they are evil and we can use badder bombs blather.....

I also wrote,

please also, don't mention atrocities unless they are Saddam related....we only want to hear what we want to hear....

as what the U.S. is essentially saying..........and you responded in the same manner, "please don't talk about Turkish repression and cruelty....blablabla..."

Again I call you as I sees you -- simple and with a shootem up, killem, nuke em , video game mentality that thinks because he reads doctor's office Time magazines, is in the right....

Blast kills 3, injures 18 in Turkish Mediterranean resort city of Antalya

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) - An explosion Monday in the Mediterranean city of Antalya killed three people and injured 18 others in the second blast in a Turkish resort area in as many days, private NTV television said.

A hardline Kurdish militant group claimed responsibility for the Sunday night bomb attack that injured 21 people, including 10 British tourists, in Marmaris.

The Kurdistan Freedom Falcons, which has links to Turkey's main Kurdish guerrilla group, the Kurdistan Workers Party, warned on its website that "Turkey is not a safe country, tourists should not come to Turkey."

Firefighters who put out a blaze ignited by Monday's blast discovered two burned bodies in the street, police spokesman Akif Aktug told the state-owned Anatolia news agency.

An injured person died later in a hospital, NTV reported.

Eighteen other people were injured in the explosion in front of a city-run business centre near the gate of a historic castle in downtown Antalya, NTV said.

"The cause of the explosion is still under investigation," said Guzide Ormeci, a spokeswoman for the governor's office.

CNN broadcast images from the resort town showing the injured arriving at the hospital in taxis or lying on the ground at the scene of the blast, waiting to be loaded into ambulances.

The windows of the building's first two floors all appeared to have been blown out.

Antalya is a popular resort city that attracts millions of Russian and German tourists each year.

I heard on AFN news last night that violent attacks have dropped in Iraq. In July, there were "52 violent attacks" per day in Iraq - these have dropped by "more than 40%!" (41% actually!) So now, how many violent attacks a day does that actually make? My maths is crappy, but I'm guessing roughly 27-28?

You heard on AFN? Oh, dear Lord... I"m going to need a more objective source than that.

AFN makes me howl - one day its getting better, then the next day its getting worse. Then the day after its getting better again, then all of a sudden it gets worse!

Aside: I do enjoy the 'why I serve' captions during the commercial breaks, particularly Stephanie Bumgarners inspired speech on why Korea is 'the assignment of choice'!

Saddam Hussein was a genocidal tyrant who had to be stopped. He massacred over 300,000 of his own people and was trying to develop weapons of mass destruction. His objective was to take over the whole region and murder millions with his evil sons. The Middle East is unquestionably better off without him and only cowardly countries like Canada and France refused to participate in his removal from power and a new path to peace and democray. The alternative would have been far worse with the Saddamites, Khomeniests, and Al Quedists and all their supporters and lovers who hate freedom in charge. Just think of how many 9-11s this prevented and stop hating freedom that others have sacrificed so much for.

that is not it.

This is where you made a mistake:

Bathists Khomeni lovers and Bin Laden followers not only hate freedom but they want to take over the whole mideast and more.

That is why they want the US out so they can take over.

9-11 happend before the US went into Iraq and if the mideast isn't changed then it will happen again.

They have to give up their war and if they don't want to give up their war then the US is justified in doing anything and everything to force them to. whatever it takes to force them to give it up is ok.

The US ought to move its forces to Kurdistan.

Besides one thing that eveyone is leaving out is that the Iraqi army is slowly getting stronger and will continue to do so by 2009 it will be more powerful than the insurgents.

Iraq isn't the whole war it is part of the war. Was the US right to go to war against the mideast - Yes.

And if 150,000 US troops and an Iraqi army will be ready to subdue a population of 20 million by 2009, just think of the possibilities for a population of 80 million in Iran. Why, that will only take 600,000 US troops and perhaps 20 years. Also, don't forget that Kurdistan is in Turkey and Syria, too. Their temporarily purchased loyalty definitely merits an occupation of the latter, at least, and that would be no more difficult than achieving victory in Iraq.

Wow, fighting all three at once makes so much more sense than the traditional strategy of getting the Bathists, Khomenists, and fundamentalist wackos to fight each other, doesn't it? Very Happy

If the Iraqis really wanted the US out, all they'd have to do is trash one of their ambulances and accuse the US of bombing it. Maybe remove the ventilator from the centre of the red cross, so it appears that a missile has pierced through it.

Public opinion would then do the rest.

Isn't that right, Yu Bum Suk?

Not as of late they don't. Fact Turkey over the last 25 years has been way way better to the Kurds than Iraq. End of conversation.

Turkey didn't gas slaughter 50,000- 100,000 of them.

Why? The Kurds are allies . They have the same enemies as the US. Power them up.

The US is at war with the same as those are at war with the Kurds

No , what a side fights for counts.

The US is fighting to force Khomeni lovers , Bin Laden followers and Bathists to give up their war.

On the other hand Khomeni lovers , Bin Laden followers and Bathists fight to conquer the mideast and perhaps more.

they don't do it like the Bathists do. Not as of late.

Again Kurds fled to Turkey and not the otherway around. Explain that.

There would be no war if the Bathists , Khomeni supporters and Bin Laden followers gave up theirs
