I'm starting to think I'd be happier in another country, or perhaps another city would do it. It's summer FFS and every time I look outside (with one or two exceptions) I see the same thing - Grey skies. Last Sunday I looked out and was pleasantly surprised to see blue skies dotted with the odd white cloud. I decided to go to Seoul Tower and get a few decent pics. By the time I got there, it was the usual story - grey, smoggy and generally sh!t. It's really starting to p!ss me off. Perhaps my mood will change when autumn comes. Ironic that the weather is nicer in autumn than in summer. In case you hadn't guessed, I live in Seoul.

I'd be interested to know if Busan, Daegu, etc also have the smog.

MD

Well, when I've visited the viewing towers in Daegu and Busan, there was some smog, but nothing compared to Seoul. In my opinion, the air quality in Seoul is worse than than big city #2 & #3...

I can sympathise with your sentiments...grey skies can make life feel so dull and gloomy, and yes, the fall is so vibrant and cool, but taking a bus to another city/cultural site can be a good remedy. Very Happy

You might want to move in a small town along southern coasts. Like Hidepark says, even Pusan gets clear skies there.

Speaking of pollution...if one smelter back home will pollute the air and soil in an area of 300 square kms, imagine how badly polluted are the soil and the air in Korea (the largest producer of steel in the world).

I don't think Korea is the largest producer of steel in the world.

I see blue skies pretty much every day. But I don't live in a big city.

It isn't. China's been the biggest for a long time. Over a decade. Then I think comes Japan & the U.S., Russia, Germany and.... ROK?

True, Korea is sixth...but they got the biggest and fifth biggest manufacturers. In any case, Korea is the biggest producer per capita and per size of territory.

I think you'll find that grey color during the Summer is known as 'Korean blue'.

Actually, they (my students) seem to think it's called 'sky blue'.

Yesterday was one of the worst days I can remember. The gray haze was swallowing everything up. Fortunately we got some rain and now it looks pretty clean today.
