WARNING: This does not work for everyone. I tried it and was stranded in Hong Kong with no money and was refused a new visa.

Can you explain more about why you were refused? Perhaps tell your story. Like I said I do not recommend this. I just think we need to start posting our experiences. Not just what we think might happen.

Thanks.

Well done, but as Ya-ta said, this doesn't work for everyone.

Another option is to get a list of parents' phone numbers, a bi-lingual Korean friend, and threaten to call all the parents giving them your opinion of the place.

Another option is to go work in Thailand, Poland, Spain, Mexico or another country for 6 months or until your current contract period expires. After that, you should be free to return and look for another job.

You keep bringing this up. It's just a bad idea, all-around. Not only is the climate such that your boss can spin it that you're the kooky one, but you can also find yourself in legal trouble, and if you do, the truth will not protect you. Number #1 rule in all of Asia: MYOFB and save face.

I agree. Slander is one of the most common things to charge people with in Korea. It's a terrible idea. They can make your life a living hell if you do that.

Besides, it's bloody juvenile.

I too cancelled my E-2 visa by going to Japan and had no significant problems getting another. I even came back as a tourist and had a comfortable holiday in Korea while the paper work was being processed.

Yet another option is to threaten to call the tax office unless you get a letter of release. If your school is screwing you around, you can bet they're not paying taxes, regardless of what they're telling. Once you have your letter, call the tax office anyway. Very Happy

Also works well for pension and medical.
