Hi, I am currently applying for teaching positions in South Korea. However, I do not seem to be getting much back in terms of offers. I am a qualified teacher here in England and was under the impression a position would be relatively easy to secure.
Could anybody tell me if this is a quite time where hiring is concerned. I have forward my passport (scan), BA, PGCE (teaching qualification), resume, picture - suited with tie and cleanly shaven, teaching experience and am still only getting vague replies from teaching agencies. So, what am I doing wrong? Have I been a been a bit deluded about the ease of securing teaching work in Korea or am I just having a run of bad luck.
Any information that may help here will be greatly appreciated. I really need to get going as my flat in England will quite soon be rented out to the new occupant (October) and I am running everything a bit tight here.
Many thanks Jonathan

It's your timing..
There are very few job ads out right now because many schools seemed to be coming back from summer vacations..
2-3 months from now, you'll see more ads and get more responses...
Good luck! |

I would suggest putting B.Ed or Bachelor of Education on your CV instead of PGCE...most Koreans don't know what a PGCE is and would not equate it to being a B.Ed degree. |

I have recommended it before, but I would post your resume on Hi teacher, I have gotten lots of calls and job offers just from having my resume up there, and the job I am taking now, is from there. The director saw my resume and called me - it was not an advertised position. Good luck! |

They didn't like the way you look. If your skin is not white, if you have white hair, if you are fat, if you are bald, or if you are ugly, you have about a snowball's chance in Haiti of getting a decent job here. |
