Hong Kongkers is Region 6, Korea's Region 3.
You may have to pay to get your DVD player "chipped" (rendered "pree-jone" or "zone-free") by murky characters who live in the shadows of this society.
But in the meantime, you can try this:
1. Put a Region 2 Korean DVD, one that you know the DVD player will play, into the DVD player.
2. Let it run through to the "FBI Warning" or equivalent, then hit EJECT.
3. Put your Region 6 Chinese DVD in and hit PLAY.
This fools the DVD player into thinking it's already verifiedy the correct region. Doesn't always work, but it's worth a try until you have to deal with the thugs & criminals. |

Google the name and model number of your DVD player + DVD hack or DVD Code. With any kind of luck this will bring up a web page that has a simple code you can punch in on your remote control to render your DVD player region-free (can play any region disk.)
Here is one such type site (which I cannot vouch for the quality of, fyi, but this is the kind of site you're looking for.)

Slysoft ANYDVD is a well known software. I have it installed on my computer for region code purposes and removing protection when ripping DVDs. Never had any problems with it.
Their ad seems to say that it will actually remove the region code off the DVD (so that you could play it on your standalone DVD player) but I haven't tried this.
Anyway, the software is safe. Or you can try what Thunndarr said. |
