The twists and turns you've taken to try and wriggle off the hook on this a truly remarkable.

TUM's summary is as complete as it is succinct.

Lets get Mith or some such to analyze the logical flow of this thread and see what they say....

But back to the OP- let's face it, only through the most dishonest reading of that article can anyone take from it the idea that former generals are counselling the Bush administration to open direct negotiations with terrorist organizations.

Come on, Bulsa, this is blatantly false. There is no way to interpret the sentence earlier highlighted. It makes a mockery of the English language to make the claim you are making here.

It is obvious from the language and intent of the article that the generals were counseling both.
I would, however, assume it is not intended as a blanket suggestion, but one meant to be sugget a case-by-case approach.

You say there is no way to interpret the sentence earlier highlighted, and yet you say it is "obvious from the language and intent of the article that the generals were counselling both"

Again I ask you- give examples of this "language and intent" which shows the generals are indeed counselling direct negotiations with terrorists organizations and not just with nation-states.

This sham and hyerbole which you call "obvious" has gone on long enough- either you are able to produce evidence to prove your point, or you aren't.
Which is it?

EDIT:
Well, EFLT, it's been 24 hours now and you've been active on other threads in this forum, so I will take your silence to mean that you are indeed unwilling and/or unable to provide concrete evidence to prove your point.
Since you don't wish to pursue this further I'm not bumping it up to the top of the forum any more.
If somebody else does, don't blame me.

The headline says that generals are telling Bush to negotiate with terrorists. The article mentions terrorists ONCE and then talks about negotiating with nation states.

The headline is clearly misleading and it was clearly a troll.

As Bulsajo said, this sums it up perfectly.

BB, your brain ain't functioning.

FACT: my original "point" was an observation, not a point. It was an opbservation about YOUR behavior and/or lack of reading comprehension, not the article itself. ( I realize you are genetically unable to understand this, so, no worries. ) That point was absolutely correct. ( I realize you are genetically unable to understand this, so, no worries. ) That has been demonstrated several times. You were absolutely wrong. ( I realize you are genetically unable to understand this, so, no worries. ) That has been demonstrated several times.

You can keep pretending I haven't made my point, but it doesn't change reality. Go back to page one. Look REAEEAAAAEEALLLLL hard.

There is nothing to talk about.
