Hi all,
My partner and I will be heading back out to Korea at some point in the autumn and we are both determined *not* to end up with the same problems with our Hakwans we had the last time we were in Korea.
As such, we are spreading as wide a net as possible in order to try to find decent positions. As such, if any one knows of/is/can recommend a semi-decent recruiter who is worth an email I would appreciate it.
I know there is often a lot of bad feeling surrounding recruiters but there must be some out there who aren't completely flexible with the truth. In the past we have been lied to/ripped off/over worked/under paid/not paid/beaten up by kids while in halloween costume (thought I'd throw that in the lighten the mood!) and only really want to have to put up with half of those things this time around.
Anyway, if any names and email addresses spring to mind, let me know.

My partner and I have gone through Stephen Cho (www.eduorange.com) twice. We were happy with him both times. I would, however, make sure you do your research on the school he offers you anyway. I've known a couple of people not so happy with where he placed them, but nothing major, they just wished they hadn't agreed to the hours and ages, which they knew going in. |

I went through Benny at Eteachersbank. He listened to my preferences and then let me pick options from there. He is based in Seoul however know he has positions around the country.
I found Benny to be honest and supportive through the recruitment process and he met me at the airport to ensure I caught the right bus to Daegu.

Of course, it always pays to doublecheck everything yourself and speak directly with current teachers at your school! |

Thanks for all of the suggestions so far. Keep them coming if you have them.
Don't worry, we'll be checking everything thoroughly but unfortunately even then things slip through or situations change. Just really want to be a step ahead of the problems from the beginning.

LongBridge Pacific worked well for me, despite people on here telling me no to go with them. That said, I checked out the job fairly thoroughly before just trusting what they had to say. |

Some recruiters are better than others, but most don't really do much other than introduce the school. So, I think you need to focus on the school, not the recruiter. Some recruiters don't care if the school is good or not. When you get a contract sent via email, edit it to the way you want it, and send it back. Almost every contract needs some tailoring because there is something unacceptable about it. The income tax will almost always be wrong. The overtime will be too low. Other stuff like deposits or "we can change conditions at any time" need to be excised. I always ask for more pay. Employers will usually negotiate. I went from 2.0 to 2.3 and 18,000 to 25,000 OT in one contract, and still might not take the job.
Use recruiters to be introduced to schools, then forget about the recruiter. He probably will do nothing else for you anyway.

I would second Amy Lee at KimnJoe.... I have talked to others that have been recruited by her and everyone talks about how good she is. Worked to find the answers to our questions.
That said, as with any recruiter, do your own checking around and approach with caution. |

You can talk to Sonja or Jack. They are a nice Korean-Canadian couple, and will help you even after you're hired! |

I would recommend this one so please email her [email protected]. She is a super Korean girl I know and has experience in managing hagwans before, and is now in the recruiting game. This one actually cares about you and will make sure you and the school get what they want. At least give her a go, I have already got a lot of people onto her and they have been happy so far
thanks |

I'm working with them right now actually. They seem nice enough and definitely knowledgable, but they haven't updated me about these two jobs they were discussing with me in a few days... a little nerve-wracking considering they want me to leave next weekend:p |
