Who saw and liked this movie? I thought it was great! It was Meryl Streep at her best. Her voice sounded so lovely and elegant, even if she was a tyrant. I could listen to her all day long.

I love meryl streep. I also love that's she actually ageing rather than trying to pretend your 25 when you are 50.

I thought it was the worst movie ever.
Sucked big time. Just another fix because Sex and the City finished

read the book recently and it wasn't too bad, funny at times. Not particularly interested in seeing the film, partly because I almost always hate film adaptions of books I've already read and partly because I don't like what's her name, Ann Hathaway, much at all

Well, here's what they say about that.

Quote:
A rare film that surpasses the quality of its source novel, this Devil is a witty expose of New York's fashion scene, with Meryl Streep in top form and Anne Hathaway more than holding her own.

and...

Quote:
A drastic improvement on Lauren Weisbergers bestselling novel, THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA showcases Meryl Streeps knack for combining humor and sadness. While likely inspired by notorious VOGUE editor Anna Wintour, Streeps Miranda Priestly (head of Runway magazine) is entirely her own creation. Sporting silvery hair, a vast collection of fur coats, an encyclopedic knowledge of all things fashionable, and a killer smile, Miranda is full of wicked charm. With her mature beauty and commanding presence, Miranda is as fascinating to watch as she is intimidating to the constant rotation of assistants thrown her way.

Who are "they"? Oh, just very, very clever famous important taste-setters. That's who.

And Anne Hathaway was the cover girl on Esquire magazine, that's US edition & we have her on the Korean edition too, for September.

Oh, I think you'll enjoy it. (and a Guru "thumbs up" is worth more than whatever those industry nobodies have to say! Razz)

Like CLG, I'm crazy in love with Meryl Streep, have been since ever, and once even dated two Korean girls _just_ because_ I thought they kind'a looked like Korean versions of Meryl Streep. I really need to see a doctor. Sad

I wasn't a fan of this flick. It's gender specific, a repeat of the Princess Diaries (preppy-girly, fluffy puppy dreams, with lots of lub hearts dotting the 'i's). Now she gets to be fashion maven idealised and idolised (with lots of free, fabulous darling, clothes).

Shallow people, with shallow ideals (even though *shock* she goes back to being jane average, and the old boyfriend in the end) it's more of the sex and the cityfication.

Great if you're a teenage girl.

PS

Meryl was great.

It's funny, and certainly worth the price of a ticket to go see.

I loved it...last movie I saw in Canada before coming back to Korea so maybe has some sentimental value. Anyway, as has been said already, Meryl Streep kicks butt and the movie was pretty funny in parts. I'd give it a 7/10 say that it's definitely worth the price of admission.
