maybe one way to think of it....
Imagine if you had to move to Planet A,B, or C.... each one overwhelmingly Christian, Islamic or Jewish....
Where would you choose to live? oh....and why? |

But the atheist planet doesn't exist!
Apparently there is an agnostic planet, but no one's sure.

None of the above. There is no "benefitted mankind most" without "oppressing others". They've all contributed to unrest and misogyny and continue to do so, among other bigotries, and they've all done their share of oppressing.
I just hope for the day when people begin to realize there is no afterlife and focus their attention on the real world. |

The question is based on a false assumption: that we can predict what a religion would be like in some hypothetical world where it is reigning supreme, based on how it behaves in the real world. It's like saying I wish Wally The Bartender down at my favorite pub were running Microsoft, because he isn't a power-drunk corporate tyrant like Bill Gates. Of course, it's pretty hard for your power-drunk, corporate tendencies to come to the fore when your job consists of pouring drinks and you never see more than a few hundred dollars in one day.
Given the parameters of the exercise, I would say I would prefer Judaism to predominate. They haven't done much slaughtering in the past couple of thousand years, and would probably have a spotless record right now if Israel stopped wailing on the Palestinians. But this just illustrates the absurdity of the exercise. Because if Jews did suddenly become the majority religion, with billions of adherent worldwide, then they would be a very different people than they were as a ghettoized and later assimilated minority. |
