Hey! I:m in Fukuoka and I:ve got to stay here til Monday. I:m looking for a really cheap place for a female to stay.

Actually what I want to know is how much a public bath here will cost. I think I:ll try sleeping in a PC room stall, but I really want to take a freaken bath.

Also, is it possible to take a shower by the beach anywhere?

There's a public bath in Fukuoka thats around 1900 yen.

The saunas are usually unisex but the male sauna that I went to had beds for twenty bucks a night, which was nice since I got stuck with the bill. Sometimes you can find a fellow expat who lives in Japan and they can direct you to the Sauna, there's one about a block away from the embassy near the McDonalds. They will also launder any clothes you need washed if necessary. I was in a bind because I had to stay in Japan after missing my plane (boss gave me someone else's ticket and I had to have them make one for me) after running like a madman to the terminal.

Anyways, it's nice and inexpensive. Hotels are damn expensive, so unless you're sharing with three or four other people it's not really worth it (did that too, kind of a "can't find the capsule hotels...can I crash on your floor" sort of thing).

I stayed here last night. It's men's and women's capsule, but seperated (except for the restaurant and lobby part...seriously, even separate elevators)

They have a lot of rules, but it's cheap, clean, quiet, near the subway, and there is a sauna in there for you. You can't have any tatoos (or just avoid being seen naked) and you are not supposed to bring food in. They give you a list of the rules in English. They are very friendly and nice.

and the Sauna seperate. does that mean I have to pay $22 extra if I want to take a shower?

I don't know. I washed at a sink. I wasn't comfortable enough to go in because there was a group of about a dozen Japanese versions of the ajumma in there at the time I was ready bathe. Embarassed

Pick up a copy (free) of Fukuoka Now from any international bar or organization. There are some adverts in there and one of them is for a capsule hotel that's segregated by gender. If I recall correctly it's not that expensive. Also, look for Popeye's internet cafe. They have a shower room for a small fee. There are 2 Popeye's internet cafes in Tenjin-just ask a foreigner.

Yes, it helps, but the website imples you can stay only one night. I'm staying in Fukuoka for three.

Capsule hotels are usually one night deals but I'm sure you could checkout and then check in again later. Just talk to the staff and they might just let you stay 3 days... I don't know as I have never stayed there. Good luck with everything.
