Suddenly we get a vote for New Zealand.
We know it's some jealous Aussie! The rivalry/sense of superiority there is ABSURD, but very real from my experiences. |
haha, mate, what has NZ got that we are jealous of?? Hobbits? j/k I like Kiwis...have alot of Kiwi friends, not surprising really since half the population of NZ lives in Sydney! |

I've met my share of Americans here that comment "Oh, you're so nice for a Canadian." I do fear there's a small but vocal bunch of us in pubs that when we meet an American, we view him as a person having a direct line to the White House and force him to answer for all of George Bush's crimes and defend every last aspect of base American culture. |

Don't get me started with spelling. I'm Canadian and I prefer American spelling. Like the Japanese who adopted and simplified Chinese characters, the Americans simplified English spelling.
Why have the "u" in color or catalog? It serves no purpose.
We don't say the word theater the way the English spell it (theatre), so why spell it that way? Why the hell do you need an "e" at the end of old?
British spelling needed some improvements.
I just wish the Americans would use the metric system. It's a helluva lot easier to use than the Imperial system. |
I always found it curious Canadians know the "patriotic" spellings but then do things like spell centre as center. |
I read somewhere that some Canadian editors (people who should know better) sometimes return manuscripts to their authors, requesting corrections where there is none to be made. The problem arrises from their reliance on MS Word's autocorrect, which they haven't adjusted to search for Canadian spelling. |

From personal experience, a disproportionate number of the coolest and smartest waygookin I've met in Korea have been American. |
