hello all,
I have a one room apartment in dogok dong (two stops from Daechi station, one stop away from Yangjae station on the orange line, line 3). The building is one year old, three floors high with approximately eight rooms in the entire building.
The room is about 8-9 pyong large, excluding the bathroom and the adjacent laundry room. The room has a kitchen area, is modern and very clean. The wallpaper and flooring are professionally finished and the neighborhood is extremely quiet. There are some sandwhich shops and a mini stop nearby, and then a row of bars about two blocks away.
Maebong station is a five minute walk away, and a river with a running pathway is also five minutes away.
I'm a cook from America who came to learn Korean cuisine and have found a roommate which is why I need to find someone to take over the room. Again, it is 330,000 won a month, which includes the water, garbage and the building cleaning fee (gwal-lee-bee). The building owners and the real estate agency have been thoroughly helpful and honest, which is a rare quality for both the budongsong and the building owner (if you live in Seoul, you know what I'm talking about).
The rent for August is paid for, so you if you move in quickly, you can live rent free until September. If you are interested, I will send you pictures of the room and the surrouding neighborhood.
Email me at [email protected], or shoot me a call
010-6872-2248. Stop by and I'll buy you a cup of coffee.
Thanks,
Gene |

Hello again,
My previous post was somewhat fuzzy now that I've gotten a dozen or so replies, so let me clear up some details:
1) there is a deposit. It is 5,000,000 won. It is paid to the owner of the building.
2) the monthly rent is 330,000 won. This only includes water, garbage and the building maintenance fee (gwal-lee-bee). It DOES NOT include electricity and gas.
3) It is an unfurnished apartment.
4) The unit is a studio. This means there is no separate bedroom, other than the bathroom and the adjacent laundry room.
5) You do not have to share the room with anybody else. What I meant in my post is that I have found a roommate, and we both need to find a larger space to accommodate both of our stuff. So no, the room does not come with a roommate.
6) There is a lease on the place, which runs until April of 2007. Now, this is flexible. Since I am leaving early on my lease without penalty, the deal is if somebody else comes to take over the room, then you are free to leave. The owner and the real estate agency are very open minded about this, so it works out pretty well.
7) There is a government owned secondhand store which sells everything from refrigerators to couches, and that's where I got my funiture from (excluding my mattress). It's a good store and it's nearby the place, as is Costco and E-mart. Between the three places, and the local shops, you can furnish the place for under three hundred bucks (US).
So, barring anything else I forgot to add, I will be posting pictures tomorrow for all the folks who have patiently waited.
Thanks again,
Gene |
