So I'm looking for my first position teaching in SK and was wondering what hours most people would consider too much, average or ideal?
I'm mainly interested in teaching Kindergarten so I understand that will mean more hours, but should that include more than 40 hours a week?
Also, is 7-10 days the standard vacation time per year? That seems to be what I'm seeing on most job posts.
I'd appreciate any advice on what might be considered a good deal or a nightmare based on the average entry level salary. Thanks in advance!  |

30 x 40 minute classes per week and 2 mil starting wage.

As with any other school in Korea the USUAL caveats still apply.
BEFORE you sign on the dotted line with any school, talk to the teachers who are currently in the school to CONFIRM conditions that exist NOW.
Ask about pay, overtime, holidays, housing, and anything else that is important to you. I know what it was like when I was there, but I am NOT in a hakwon anymore (public school job now) so DO YOUR OWN DUE DILLIGENCE and check with current staff.

| You might get lucky and get a job at a school that's purely kindergarten.... which would probably give you fewer hours than a kindergarten/afternoon hagwon. You should not agree to anywhere near forty teaching hours... I'd say thirty is fine, but I know other people here who would disagree... and unless the school is *really* great otherwise, don't settle for seven vacation days. Ten plus national holidays shouldn't be too hard to get. |
