I didn't notice the family name. Well, yeah, there is a strong possibility that the family is Catholic. For what it's worth, I was raised catholic.
I want to say that there is also a link between poverty/education and the size of your family. I just feel that there's more than just a simple black and white reason for the big family.

What about this comment? Last I checked, (yesterday) it takes two to make a family. As mentioned by Huffdaddy, the family is married, so does the wife have sole control/decision making over the size of the family? How traditional are they on deciding this factor. You don't have to be Catholic to be conservative, and you can be Catholic and still be liberal.
To princess, in the church I grew up in, most families had about 2 kids, a couple had four kids, and one family had 6, that was the largest. I am married and have little interest in a large family. |

I saw a clip about the story this am on GMA. I seem to get my news from Dave's more quickly than from tv, radio, etc. Found out about Steve Irwin from dave's even before it was on the Aussie sites...
I still wonder how you could support 9 kids. Maybe both the parents are rocket scientists, won the lottery, own a resort down in Acapulco... If they are working class, they have to have some assistance. I have no idea how welfare, food stamps, etc. work, but I really wonder how you can provide adequately for a family that size. Can you imagine how much health insurance would cost for a family of 11? I remember seeing a 60 min. or 20/20 episode that featured a lg. family. The family had 2 very lg. refrigerators, and they went through several gallons of milk a day. I think they did something like 3 loads of laundry a day. I just can't imagine managing a household like that with both parents employed... |

I know a family that had eight kids. The father was a teacher and the mother a housewife. And they did quite well. No debt and they owned the largest and most expensive house in their town. Of course this was Canada where health insurance is free and most people can get student loans for university. Oh yes and they had only 1 refrigerator. |
