Hello Everybody!
I sure many have asked this but I cannot seem to find it, so here goes...
As a newbie, (going to korea around Jan) would it be better to teach at a hagwon or a public school? I know it will be more difficult to find work at a public school, as people have mentioned earlier. What i like about the public schools are the hours and vacation time.
Are there any Hagwons that operate normal hours? Im not sure if I will have much of a life if I work 2-10pm. How do you guys manage to fit anything with that schedule? Not to mention, the eating schedule is being messed up. Knowing me I will sleep until 12 every day! I will also be traveling with my boyfriend.
I've also been told to NOT EVER teach kindergarden! lol |

Actually K classes can be fun if it's in the right enviroment. You spend alot of time with them and they absorb information like sponges. What you REALLY have to avoid is the preschoolers. Oh holy heck doing that for a year is hard |

Some hogwans offer a 10-6 type contract which includes kindy and elem. WOrking at a hogwan probably makes it easier to meet people, b/c most people are the only foreigner at their public scoool. But hte public schools usually treat you better. Its a give ad take. |

Is it possible for a new teacher (fresh out of college, no teaching expereince) to get a job in the public school system? I was under the impression that prior experience (usually at least a year in a hogwan) was essentiallly a preresiquite. |

You can, and it's not terribly difficult (not terribly easy either though). When you think about it, schools would save 400 000 a month if they get a newbie at class 3 instead of class 1. |
