| What is the advantage of having an E7 visa over an E2 visa? Is it just a status or ego thing? |
1/ Many hagwons are notoriously shady, unreliable and dishonest.
I like living in Korea, but NOT working for people like that.
2/ I can't stand teaching.
3/ I will have something concrete on my resume when/and if I decide
to move on. I do not want to be a carer ESL teacher. Therefore
having: "taught little kiddies at Wonderland" printed on my resume
really won't help me. |

| So if I understand you correctly, your responsibilties at your company is what enhances your resume. How does having an E7 visa have relevance to this? For example, I was a business consultant for a large corporation which wanted me to process an E7 visa. However, I prefered to have an E2 visa so that I could obtain a letter of permission to work part time elsewhere. On an E7, this does not seem possible. Therefore, it appears that having an E7 visa is more of a disadvantage. The question remains: WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF HAVING AN E7 VISA? |

E2 = English teacher
E7 = Business related
How is this not clear? If you have an E2 and are doing something business related, you're on the wrong visa.
If you're teaching english in a trading company, I guess it could go either way.
Bottom line: it depends on your job description. |

I'm on E7.
I was at one company before this one, and I left after 3 mos because it looked like they were NEVER going to be able to get me a visa.
It'd be nice if the law changed, and if you had an MBA or similar level qualification (especially CPAs!) you could basically "sign yourself up" for a visa. That'd be sweet, and would unleash a horde of well-meaning business consultants on Korea.
They were ineligible, because they couldn't demonstrate over 100,000 us$ worth of exports a year - never mind that a single "product" was worth easily five times that....
So, if I made one "sale" then they could hire a foreigner... but they probably had to hire a foreigner to make a sale... real chicken and egg logic here.
Anyway, they company culture sucked too, so I didn't mind too much. I love my current job much much more... and as a fairly big Korean company, they had no problem getting my visa processed.
Advantage of e7? I guess it's a ego thing combined with not being "tarred with the same mop" of English teacher perversion/name your issue. But if you really want to have an inflated ego, then you need an investor visa.
Ah, someday.... |

If one has a work visa in USA, can you work for more than one employer or move to another?
In other words, can you change sposnor? |
In the US you have to re-apply for a visa every time you change jobs. From what I've seen, some employers will subsidize half of the nearly $5000 in fees for the process but some don't. |
