I am at a hagwon, and i have just been handed two of the "slower" classes. Middle school students, they don't want to be there (don't blame them). Both are quite large classes around 10 students (well big for my hagwon average is around 5).

The problem is their english is really basic, as in some can not respond to "how old are you?".

Any advice? games? esp speaking games

I have been teaching mainly higher level kids that actually want to be there so far, so this is a bit of a shock. I am not a trained teacher and my school is not big on "training"

any help would be great

Cheers

Just get them to play with english, they will never learned it when they are enforced.

There are sufficient resources to find fun games that are of very low level, add sone competition and they will learn while interacting with the language.

Just start with basic vocab, about 10 per hour, once they know about 100 words or so, start making simple sentences within the games, ans slowly increase the complexity.

That is how i do it.
