ok you idiots all they have done is include it in the price of your ticket so you pay it when you buy your ticket. Its like the rest of the developed world (yes there are departure taxes when you leave the US you just dont stand in a line at the airport to pay it)
you really think a governmental agency would give up a source of easy revenue??? |

| Well, it seemed big at the time - due to circumstances. I spent too much on gifts and stuff, then got food poisoning on New Year's eve (in Chiang Mai...) ended up forgetting to keep 500 baht for the departure fee, and had to scramble to get a cash advance on my credit card (or something) It was just a big nuisance... |
Yeah, it is a big nuisance because you have to pay it separately into that machine and get the recepit and show it to passport control. They should just include the fee in the tickets, like everyone else does. |

It had to be a mistake. I dont even think Koreans pay it now at the airport, I was just at ICN this week and there are no booths for that and I didn't see any Koreans having to show anybody a receipt like in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia etc.
Also remember the source, a KOREAN govt website, how often does that get updated? About as often as the immigration website I bet
BTW it is true that when you arrive if you have an ARC you dont have to fill out the arrival card. It happened to me this week. Korea is getting like Japan in that sense.
Now for them to have speedier lines at immigration to accomodate that
I'll say it again there are some people here who dont have a clue whats going on |
