Alright, now I think this is crazy, but in a way it makes me feel a little better about this recruiter in a stange kind of way because she isn't painting a rosy picture like the rest of them. Check this out and tell me I'm not crazy for thinking this is off:
thank you very much for your application..
I'm writing to you regarding ____ ESL job..
_____ is a nice place to live and enjoy korean culture
the city has the mordenity and tranditional things.
first of all there's something i would like to tell you about my thought..
you don't have teaching experience in Korea..
i want to know what makes you to decide to come to Korea?
teaching english to children who do not use english daily and have different language ,culture is not easy
they are just children making noise don't listen to teacher..
i want to ask you how much you think you love children..
My client _____ would like to work with the nice people
Do think think you meet the requirements as below/
-Must be a Foreign English Native speaker from Aus,NZ,UK, North America
-BA/BS Bachelor's degree or higher
-No drug or alcohol related incidents and be in good health
-Are willing to commit for a miniumum of one year
-Are a team player with strong communication
-Are of strong character able to handle the pressure of adapting to a new culture.
there's a lot of stories happened to ESL job field....
a teacher from Aus just left the language school after one month because she missed her mom..
i think she is not good at adapting the new culture.. and etc..
a teacher left the school without any word..
some teacher complain about school because the employer didn't follow the contract.. Geez, if the alarm bells didn't go off already!!!
as you know i work between employer and employee
so i don't know who is right or wrong..
anyway i couldn't say this school is the best.. but i could say it's a reliable
employer.
i think we can't satisfy 100% when it comes to job..
employer wants the employee to work hard and please their need.
employee asks better working evironment, good payment..
the problem between employer and employee ask too much for their benefit..
my point is that we should work with faith..
i don't know well about my client you don't know me i don't know you..
but if we work together we should trust eachohter..
lately in korea there's big issue people are talking about.. the native speakers who work in korea as an instructor
they are not qualified... some people fake degree.. even they have BA or BS degree they dont' take their job as an english instructor seriously............
To be honest it's getting harder and harder to work as a recruiter.
i feel sorry about this negative one.. but on the hand there are nice teachers who enjoy working and living in Korea..
i think it depends on the person..
if you are intersted in this job
would it be ok for you if we require the criminal records from you?
Now, am I nuts or was that off the wall? |

Hahahaha
thats a nice letter. And straightforward.
Why is it getting harder to work as a recruiter I wonder.? Fewer candidates? or fewer employers?
-Ask her on a date when its all over. |

First let me say that I'd never take this job.
Having said that I think that this recruiter is one of the few honest ones around. My employers don't 100% follow the contract, and I don't work in "the best school", but having said that I am 100% happy with my employers and school and just as of yesterday renewed my contract with them.
Had my recruiter been honest I would never have ended up here. Instead he lied to me, harmless white lies but lies nonetheless, and even now a year later I would highly recommend him to handle anyones job search.
Everyone says they want honesty but no one really does. We like to be lied to. |

yup- this pretty much sounds like my last contract. the recruiter wasn't so straight forward, but the director pretty much told us these kinds of things verbally or in written letters almost daily.
don't take the job, but I do commend the the recruiter for being honest. You really have to love kids to get through some of the kindergarten hogwans, and a lot of what she said is generally true.
good luck |

I think the recruiter seems ok...just ask him/her what jobs they have that they would feel comfortable in offering as they're not that confident about this one.
Can't fault a person on being upfront. |

I like how "truthful" means "crazy" when dealing with Korean recruiters. |

Te he- she's in the wrong profession! I think she'll be hard pressed to find a hakwon she could write glowing things about... Ah well, no workplace is perfect, but if that school doesn't honor the contract, that's illegal. Obviously she has integrity~ Probably feels responsible for bringing teachers over here and feels bad when they get screwed over... |
