I am the least tolerent person in the world when it comes to Arab secularism, and Islamic fanatacism. I had no problems with the way the the Bush government conducted it's war on terror. Indeed I don't think it has gone far enough. I am one of these hawks that would advocate an invasion of Iran and the installation of a puppet government there. Sorry to all you politically sensitive types.

Despite this even I can't find logic in coffee cup's posts. CC are you trying to claim that terrorism committed by white people is in any way less dangerous than that committed by Islamic extremists? Are you also claiming that terrorism in Northern Ireland is some how unfairly labelled as such? Are you claiming that it's okay for white people to commit terrorist acts with impunity? I am sorry but that was the only inference I could draw from your efforts earlier. Please let me know if I misconstrued what you said. Also, I join the growing number of people requesting you to source your claims. Thank you.

The only place I've ever heard the Mcveigh-Mideast linkage mentioned by a credible source was during his trial(or else the buildup, can't exactly recall), when his lawyer(actually a noted legal scholar) made the claim as part of a strategy to make his client look like the pawn of a grand int'l conspiracy. The lawyer was probably just doing his job, but that doesn't make the claim any more credible. The jury didn't buy it, obviously.

I used to spend time surfing extreme right-wing websites, and I know there is a degree of professed sympathy in these circles for the suffering of arabs. More than likely, just a "front issue" for their anti-semitic agenda. I'm wagering that whoever is marketting this "OKC-Mideast" connection is coasting on whatever contact there might have been between SOME pro-arab activists and SOME neo-fascists. As anyone who has been involved in political activism can attest, almost all causes attract their share of whack-jobs, and a "guilt-by-association" indictment can be constructed against pretty much anyone.

I'll just go ahead and refer this to forum webmasters. I don't know what their decisions will be, but keep in mind they do keep track of things you say. Don't also forget that the same person you call a "BEEP" may be the same guy that could help you out in person. I know that's part of the reason why I am here, and I believe in expats sticking together... But maybe that's just me.

Anyways, it's in their hands now.

I feel like a broken record but...upon popular request:

Coffeecupcakes,

I detect the kind of glaring logical inconsistencies in your 'reasoning' that only botched frontal lobotomy patients with crisscrossed shoelace scars on their sloped foreheads are capable of making. If I want the opinion of a retard, I'll slap you on the back of the head and wake up that little peg- legged hamster that operates the drool-powered waterwheel of thought in there. Until then, sit in the corner and wait until I either speak to you or spit at you.

What are you reporting? One measely insult? Well 2 now thanks to st's post Smile.

Instead of getting juvenile on us (word beginning with a "t" is popping into my head) why don't you refute us and make us look dumb? There must be some website out there that backs up what you said earlier Wink

Coffeecup, obviously when I say you're more scarey to me than muslims I'm being rediculous in the service of making a point and a bit of a joke at the same time. And yes, I'm insulting you, but not in a heavy-handed I hate this guy kind of way. I find your politics highly off-putting. However, I am aware that politics is one small part of a human being, and it is possible to disagree and still respect. What I'm say is, we probably won't become bossom buddies, but I WOULD piss on you if you were on fire. I hope you'd do the same for me.

As a former (I left Korea) teacher at the Islamic school at the mesjid in Itaewon, I can tell you that the Arabs and other non Arab Muslims come to Korea for tons of reasons from tons of countries.

Many are from Egypt working in factories. They are not in Korea with their families though. Many of the Pakistanis own businesses and are in Korea doing trading on a full time basis or just on a business trip. Same for some Indians too. Lots of the actual Arabs you see are embassy staff. They are not just Ambassadors and high positions like that but guards, translators, etc...
Also some of them are working for Ambassadors in their homes as guards, drivers, maids and au pairs.

The DDD ones are in Korea to save money and all are basically on borrowed time as they are illegal workers. Occasionally, the gov't will have a period of amnesty and let them leave without big fines but after that period, they are subject to being arrested and fined. The fines are quite huge from what I have heard.
The gov't is watching all the Arabs very closely so you can be sure terrorism is on their mind. I have had friends who's businesses were examined and even closed for suspected terrorism links. They even have immigration folk walking in Itaewon on Fridays (our obligatory day of praying in a group at the mesjid) to randomly ask for ID and question them to see if they are legal or not. The scrutiny, of course, worsened after Sept 11.

Anyway, just my little inside info as I am Muslim and married to one of those Arabs but he isn't an Itaewon Arab....ahahah.

If ya see 'em hanging out below Geckos or in front of Baskin Robbins this coming weekend, let them know that "Amina" says hello and misses Korea very much. Wink

I know Itaewon brings a lot of different people from different places, but I've noticed a lot of Arabs around this place. In the news, you often hear about bombings in Bali, and the Australian nightclub a few years back and other things occuring at Western hangouts in foreign places. I'm just wondering if anyone knows their purpose in Seoul because obviously, they are not here to teach english. Terrorist cells are all over the place, just wondering if anyone knows the dirt.

I'm a muslim, what is your point?

Ok~ So not all terrorist acts could be considered terrorism if committed by a white man.......please tell that to the people in Oklahoma after the Federal Building was blown up by Tim McVeigh. Or the people in a small town in Colorado called Columbine where 12 students and a teacher were gunned down by some disfunctional WHITE ex-students.

Terrorism can be committed by anyone, anytime.

Did you know that at least one of the Islamic militants that took the school in Baslan, Russia was in fact an ethnic Korean? If you know Russian or knows someone who does, do a little digging into the mess there, the people who did that came from a variety of different backgrounds.

My point is....you can't blame a certain group for the acts of a few. If that were the case, the USFK would have been kicked off the peninsula a long time ago for its reputable bad conduct.

Tiger Beer- the reason for that is because Geckos and such are the gathering place is because they are the pick up points for migrant workers for the day. It is a first com- first serve basis, so the first ones there are given jobs for that day by the company that needs them.
