I am sorry for being ignorant, but I thought I'd ask the questions instead of trial and error.
How do I highlight and box a segment of a post for use in a reply?
Also, how does this aravat (image) stuff work?
Also what are these quote, code, list, img buttons, or better yet, how do they work?

when you write a post or reply to a post on the bottom left there's a nifty link with the text BBCode - click that and it will explain everything to you. or just follow this one.

I still don't understand how excerpts show up in a white box. I tried copy/paste... no go.
