If you are, how is the experience? Any big problems apart from finding drivers and 64 bit apps.
How do you get on running 32 bit apps? |

No real difference aside from the occasional program that doesn't work on 64-bit Windows (but those programs aren't all that common and I think I've only come across 2 of them). |

I've been using 64bit OS for months by now. Everything's working well, because I was able to find all the necessary drivers for my ag(e?)ing Acer Ferrari 3200 laptop. Don't know for sure, but at least to me the 64bit OS seems to be more stable. Might have someting to do with the fact that it is based on Server 2003... if I remember correctly. The biggest problems I've had so far are:
- my F-secure anti-virus software doesn't work (FIX: now using avast)
- my old Logitech* webcam didn't have 64bit driver (FIX: bought Creative's Live! Motion)
If you aren't sure if you should migrate to 64bit or not, I suggest that you make a "dual boot" machine. This is what I did. After I was sure sure that everything worked in the new OS, I formatted the whole HDD and installed only XP 64bit.
*None of the Logitech webcams have a _Windows_ 64bit driver. More info can be found from LOGITECH DISCUSSION FORUMS. |

Acer seem to be better than some companies for supplying up-to-date drivers. I gave up my plan of migrating to WinXP 64bit when all the drivers I needed were unavailable, and even months later were still unavailable.
My current system runs smoothly enough on WinXP Pro, but I want to do a multi-boot system for my next machine: WinXP Pro, WinXP 64bit, and SUSE Linux. I may as well set it all up from scratch.
