Hi.

I need recommendations for travel agents in Seoul who can arrange packages, etc.

One with an English website is a must. I know Xanadu has one - not bad, not super-great.... are there any more?

This question should go in the TRAVEL FORUM.

I'd put it there, but I'd like some responses TODAY...

It goes up, I get answers from two or three people, and by the end of the day, it scrolls off.

Big whoop.

My personal fave is Kangsan Travel. They are based in Daegu and Busan, but will courier your tickets to you for free if you don't live near either of their offices.

But they may set you up with a flight out of Daegu instead of Seoul, as happened to me. Never thought to ask me where I lived. Now I'm screwed, as there are no seats free on the KTX, train, or bus from Seoul to Daegu on Chuseok. Apparently I'll have to walk to Daegu from Seoul to catch my flight.

That's absurd. Of course there are express buses leaving every few minutes. Simply inquire about an earlier bus, or simply go to another place first, like Daejon, then get a bus from there.

I have taken intercity buses across the peninsula on Chusok and even during Solnal and have never had a problem getting to where I wanted to go, though some detours or delays have been needed, but relatively minor.

As for Kangsan travel, they are awesome. Exclamation They may be based in Busan but they have three times gotten me flights out of Incheon. And I've never been to their office. All done via phone and email and courier. Simply ask for an Incheon flight! If you get a Daegu or Busan departure it's simply because one didn't emphasize where one wanted to leave from.

Yeah, beacuse it's not the travel agent's job or anything to ask you... Rolling Eyes And actually, when I noticed Daegu, I figured that was the only flight available. I was happy with her service, so much so I had my Korean buddy who wants to go contact her, and that's when I found out she "assumed" I lived in Daegu, and could have booked me from Incheon, but never asked.

You are full of ****. Minor delays on Korean roads the first day of Chuseok. Do you work at this travel agency or something to be able to type this load of garbage with a straight face?

I spoke of my experience. Repeated experience.

Of course I've never seen nor experienced trying to leave Seoul on the first day of Chuseok, as I start from Gyeongsangnamdo.

The waves out of Seoul to start a holiday are legendary, so I guess that could be a significant difference. But since I've never experienced that, I didn't speak of it.

I have crisscrossed the peninsula a few times during Chuseok over the last four years (except for typhoon Maemi on Chuseok 2003) and had nothing but minor delays. You point out a relavant diff. for you Seoulites. Sorry for the oversight. Guess it's not so absurd after all.

Sorry, but that's as much your fault as theirs. Why would you assume that they would assume you would be departing from Incheon. Korea has more than 1 international airport. Why wouldn't you specify your departure? Why wouldn't you check this before you pay? I mean...seriously..... Shocked
