Which is exaclty what happened to The Citadel, a military college in South Carolina. The Citadel and Shannon Faulkner debacle made major headlines. Those who wanted to keep it an all-male school were deemed bigots and the like. Of course it was a state supported school so they had to admit her, but it took two years of court battles. Then after all that she quit within a week and most of that time she spent in the infirmary.

| My use of the term "bull dyke" was not intended offensively nor as a moral judgment - I was just using a slang sociological term used to describe assertive lesbian females with prominent masculine traits. Upon referring to a modern dictionary I realize that it's now considered an offensive term similar to the "n" word so I shouldn't use it in a serious discussion That said, I still think that it's a collorful term, and it can be used for comedic purposes...) Besides, they're "tough guys" so their feelings won't be hurt... |

My use of the term in my original statement was mainly rhetorical. It's more succinct than using five words to convey the same meaning (eg: assertive lesbian with masculine qualities...)
My opinion regarding why some women strongly oppose the admission of men in a hitherto all-women college is based largely on what I've heard personally from friends of the family enrolled at such a school...
I don't believe in unnecessarily pre-judging or branding people by stereotypes or their ascribed characteristics. (As long as they don't mess with me...) |
