Yeah, that's so weird. One of the first questions people ask me is why I came to Korea. I get asked that a lot. Is it because they want to confirm a suspicion that western EFL teachers are a raucous bunch of layabouts, or do Koreans really have such a hard time imagining that someone might actually want to live here?

Question for people who've lived in other countries: Were you often asked by locals what made you choose that country to live in?

My father asked me why I would think of going to Korea and I slew him with the family sword he had passed down to me as a child.

When I told my parents, they didn't like the idea of me being so far from home, but at the same time thought it was cool and were jealous. They get excited because if gives them a new place to go away on vacation. (They got tired of going to see my sister in Mexico 8 times.) Funny thing is, they have never come to visit me.
