Man, I hate money.
I went out today and spent four grand. I bought my wife one of those 65 inch flat screen hi-def televisions.
We're going to hook it up with HBO and Showtime--so that I can watch some boxing every once in a while.
But I won't be able to enjoy the television. I'll be working my fingers to the bone trying to make the four grand back. |

| Sometimes I'd be happier just living in a cave. |

| Why didn't you just get a smaller TV? |

Exactly. $1600 for a 56" rear projection HDTV was just about the limit of how much I was willing to blow, and frankly it suits me just fine. |

Yeah, but so many of these so-called "caves with a view" just look out onto blank walls. Ok, ok, granted, that's what cave-living is all about, I know. Anyway I still say too much clutter is not good, and it would have been nice to see a little more exposed rock there, just as a highlight. That wouldn't need to be outcroppings or anything fancy, just a bit of sheer granite. But, all in all, she's tricked the place out pretty good, and if the political situation should happen to deteriorate, it wouldn't take much to convert it back to a bomb-shelter.
Our editors award this one a well-earned "3 Stalactites." |

If you hate money so much, why do you keep making posts about how much you spend? A $300 meal here, a $4000 TV there... hmmmm... Gee, I wonder if you really hate money, or just hate that others might not know how much you have. |

Not in the least. I don't even own a TV. When I finish making my money, I get to retire and do whatever I want. When you make your money, you have to keep working to make more to pay for what you spent, as you so eloquently put it:

Well, good for you!
Do you need me to loan you a few bucks so you can buy one? |

That's life, my man. I'm going to work every day till Thanksgiving.
I'll work till I drop dead.
It beats sitting around the house.
I can tell you're single.
For your marriage day, let me give you some advice.
Work your butt off.
Don't cheat.
Try to have sex with your wife about three or four times a week--even though you'd rather be doing the twenty-three year old bartender down the road.
However, don't tell the missus about the 23-year-old bartender down the road.
Make a good living and support the family.
Be a good father. Check the homework. See the kids off to school. Go play baseball in the backyard.
If you can do all that, your wife will treat you like a God king.
If not...well, good luck. |
