I know this has been covered before, but can someone clue me in on the easiest way to do this?

Thanks!

There is NO easy way.

Lots of ways but most of the time the result is mediocre at best and it will certainly not be of the quality you might expect.

Run a cable from your tape's headphone jack to your computer Mic-in jack. Record with your favorite software. After that, you're digital, baby.

if you have an mp3 player that has an audio in (your mp3 player looks like it has two headphone jacks), simply plug it in to the head phone jack of the stereo and hit play on the tape and your mp3 player will convert it into an mp3 file (not quite as simple as that but close).

You would get better results if you use your audio cables (white/red) and connect them to LINE-IN and not MIC-IN. Mic-in picks up a lot of external noise (like from the computer or fan).

I did this way back in the 90s when I was backing up all my tapes, but eventually found downloading albums from the net sooo much easy Smile

Really?

I have a line-in and a mic in jack on my mp3 player which doubles as dual line-out.
