Anybody heard any of his new album?

From some site:

Bob Dylan has hit the top of the US album charts for the first time in 30 years.

The folk-rock icon's new album, Modern Times, has given Dylan his best sales week since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991.

The acclaimed new release sold 192,000 copies in its first week to easily take the top spot from rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs' all-girl group Danity Kane.

Modern Times is Dylan's third consecutive top 10 album, but his first chart-topper since 1976's Desire.

I got it about 2 weeks ago and really like it. I'm not a huge Dylan fan but I think this is 1 of his best. I played it for a true Dylan fan the other nite and he loved it. It doesn't hurt that the band is super tight. At 65, this may be 1 of his last.

It's not bad.

As far as the charts go, I think Dylan has only had one number one single in his entire career ("Like A Rolling Stone"), though maybe it only hit No. 2? Goes to show you...

I listened to a few tracks from it yesterday. He's keeping the Love and Theft sound going. Which can only be a good thing.

But already there have been a couple of blues workouts. Bob has always included one or two blues stompers on his albums and it annoys me. They don't offer much musically that a thousand other artists couldn't do. If you're Bob Dylan, it's assumed you can rattle off a standard blues rocker. What the fans want is something which shows off his songwriting skills more.

Anyway, I've only listened to half the tracks so judgement is reserved for now.

I downloaded a few songs from it. Not bad. I agree, I always appreciated him as a great songwriter, and the songs that show off this skill tend to be my favorites.

Nothing wrong with a blues song if done well either. He has done a few good ones.

p.s. I am also a 'true' Dylan fan, whatever that means.
