Spending $300 on shabu-shabu just makes you look like ,well,a fool really.

I can't see how you could spend 300....topless shabu-shabu perhaps??

I bought it in a hotel near the hot springs in Taejon. The Hong-In Hotel--I think it's called.

It's in You-song dong.

Tried the Shabu-Shabu last night homemade. Not bad except the broth needs a bit of flavor. Do they ever add stock to the water in addition to peppers?

That's an excellent question. Yes. I use a little bit of something called Zatarin's Crab Boil.

But the peppers should do the trick.

If you'd gone up the road about 10 minutes to Shin-song-dong, you could have saved yourself about $275. And then you could have played on the swing set in the little city park next door when you were finished eating.

It's what you don't know in life that always costs you the most.
