four grand? hahaha what are you rubbing in our noses? A pathetic little sum? I just put down 60 grand on a place to live, planning to put down another 15 grand on furnishing it, and 5 grand on camera and lens for myself for christmas. Your 4 grand is a pathetic little sum, just as pathetic as you are.

Wow!

A whole 60 grand for a house! How can you afford it?

15 grand for furniture? You must be a millionaire.

Buddy, you can't even compete.

Otis, I have a few questions for you:

First, do you enjoy purposely picking fights here on Dave's? Man, I have never seen someone post things so out-of-whack, so out-of-left-field type questions in my life (and actually sit there and mean them). Seriously, I thought I was the worst! Laughing (though some of my threads, that many fail to realize, are created with a behind-the-scenes intent).

Second, ....... no way. You can't be serious. You must be a sock. Alright...good to meet you...bye.

Me.

Picking fights? How?

Because I bought an expensive television set, I deserve this abuse from you people?

I'm the one being bashed.

Heck, I'm even being gay-bashed by Vlad. He seems to think it's wrong that I have nonymous gay sex in rest areas.

What's it to him? A girl's got to do was a girl's gotta do.

Vlad is a cad. My big brother is going to punch him right in the nose.

Just curious, and I'm not being hostile, but what is the attraction of signing a post on an internet discussion forum with 'Me'?

I think 'nonymous gay sex' is where you know each other's names.

You don't hate money, my friend: it sounds like you love it almost more than the rest of us. Who else on this board would spend 4000 for a TV...very few I'd have to say.

Listen. It's not my fault if I can afford to blow 4000 dollars. The reason most people on this board wouldn't spend four thousand dollars on a tv is quite obvious. Most people who post here don't have the credit to buy a 400 dollar bike.

Coming on this board to brag about spending [cue Austin Powers music]FOUR --- THOUSAND ------- DOLLARS![/cue] is pretty funny.

Keep on truckin'.

But seriously, Otis, this isn't really about TVs, is it? You should rename this thread Otis' Official BLING BLING Contest. I wish you had, as I'd like to play, too.

Give us your bling while I whip this out.

(how the *beep* did this get to page 4 so fast?)

Sorry, Otis. Distracted by some annoyingly work-related business.

I am a poor man. You win.

Yeah...we can only dream of being lashed to an 18-wheeler for the rest of our lives trying to keep up with our whorish consumerism, paying off credit cards and generally living in the hole; at best, hand to mouth. A fool and his money are soon parted.

It's a sign of immaturity, otis. So is your troll, but it's always fun to nibble your hook, then go away when you get too boring.

When you look in the mirror, what do you see?

From what I can tell, you're just another internet virgin.

Is that Snickers bar tasting good? Hurry up. Have another gulp of Coke.

And get out of the bathroom, for God's sake. Other people have to use it.

I hope and know you & your wife will enjoy that 65-inch flatscreen. I don't think I've ever owned a TV of over 30 inches screen size. But a Persian carpet I recent acquired will I think give me more daily use and many more years of enjoyment & satisfaction that your big bad-ass TV will. And it had better, as it cost considerably more. Then there are the pine trees and others the cost of purchase and transplanting would have bought me a nice small car, and the stone statuary, the retractable rooftop canopy system, the... Nah. Being occasionally irksome is great, comes naturally. But this being a simple jackass, it's not as much fun as it sounded. So I give up, you win.

Of course I won.

Was there any doubt?

Puuulleeezzzeeee!

I thought this thread might end up just being a cool place where people could chill out and talk about large televisions and living in caves and other accoutrements of the truckin/teachin lifestyle, but no, it's been completely fagged up.

Thanks guys.

I don't understand how you go on about being so rich, and yet you're upset about 4K you spent on a TV because now you have to work your butt off.

Here's some info. that can change your life: Your wealth is not measured in terms of dollars, but in terms of how long you can afford to live your current lifestyle if you were to never work again.

So let's see, you spent $4K on a TV (which has already depreciated at least 10% in value, so you lost $400), and now you have to work your butt off. Hey, what if you don't have any work for a month? How long can you afford to keep up the rent payments, food on the table, etc.?

Can you even afford to go a month without working and maintaining the same lifestyle? I know people who make over $1 million per year and if the money were to stop coming in, they wouldn't even last 3 months. Yet, I know people who make $250K/year, and they can last 3 years. You're more like the former.

So no need to boast. Anyone here who knows how to handle money doesn't think you're "cool" at all. By the way, I paid over 20K for my TV, and without working, I can still maintain my current lifestyle for more years than you've been teaching. I don't have to hustle my ass off until Thanksgiving, worrying whether or not my family's future financial situation is going to be in trouble because of a stupid television.

He doesn't need your logic - it's not the real point of the thread. Otis's hobby is getting people to argue with him on the internet, which is apparently the biggest adrenaline rush going for the average working class dude in Louisiana these days once the drinking and whoring is done with. Am I right otis?
