|
|
just curious since my phone is getting pretty ragged and id like to get a nice new phone, but dont want to drop a few hundred on a product i wont be able to use when i go back home (Canada).
a GSM phone here should work back home right? I imagine you could use it in N. America as long as you got a tri or quad-band phone....but ive been told from friends who have been here a few years that most Korean phones wont work back home.
are there some that will work and some that wont? whats the scoop? enlighten me please! thx in advance. |

In August of this year, I took my LG cellphone back to the UK with me and it didn't work. My friend brought her quadband phone from the UK to Korea and was told it would work, but it didn't.
I can't speak for North America though.

Don't like your chances of it working. Myself, I keep an old Nokia for use in SE Asia and back home in Australia and just pick up a new sim card as needed. |

As far as I know, South Korea only has a CDMA network -no GSM- so any phone that you want to buy and use here will not work back home.
Korea makes GSM phones but they are for export. |
